A Brief Ontological Essay On The Sexes by John Lars Zwerenz (C) 2014

In man's original innocence, prior to the fall of Adam, there was a sameness in regards to the sexes.  The only difference was the unique persons of Adam and Eve as individuals.  Adam's first exclamation when he first beholds Eve is one of identity, not "otherness" or "difference".  "Flesh of my flesh, bones of my bones," he says at first realizing the person of Eve.  It is only after the fall that "difference" is highlighted by both sexes, and is seen as a threat.

Yet, in actuality, there is now a difference between the sexes, directly due to the results of original sin.  These differences which I will relate, put man, the male man, in a position of inheriting a fundamental responsibility, unique to his gender.   For unlike the female, who because of the actions of Eve, rather than due to the intentions of nature, or nature's God, possesses much less sexual self-control than the male, the male has the freedom and the duty to "set right the wrong", almost exclusively.

Rather than perpetuate a mutual appropriation of concupiscence, it is up to the male not to respond to the deep-seated, almost constant desires of the wanton female as Adam did.    He should set the proper standard, or example, for the chaste human being, who knows that the act of sexual union is sacrosanct and must be only confined to marriage.  What can the female then do but follow?   The male, as well as the female, must discover their vocation in the realm of self-giving love before becoming involved in an intimate relationship with the "opposite sex".    Self discovery precedes in the order of importance than does relating to others in the way God intended us to.  One must first discover oneself before one can fully love another.

How many unhappy marriages and "unions" exist today because of man's self-imposed slavery to female concupiscence?   How many unions are founded on a bedrock of true mutual-giving love instead of perverse ties to the earth?

The choice is clear and transcends the aspects of sex and gender:  We all either love God and one another- or we all shall perish together as a failed human family.
